Cheapest Elite Armor sets?
Like many others, I'm working to fill out my HoM to 30, but I've hit a real stumbling block on the armor.
Is the absolute cheapest you can get five sets of armor 300k platinum, at 60k per set for 5 sets? I've just started EoTN, so I'm unfamiliar with the faction armor there, is that cheaper? Or should I just save every penny and work to buy five sets of 'regular' elite armor? I also noticed the hall gives extra points for Luxon/Kurzick and Obsidan/Vabbian armor, but I'm assuming those are all really expensive. |

The elite armor sets always cost 15k per piece, the armors used to be even called 15k armor.
However, that's not necessarily the most expensive part - the materials significantly increase the price. As a matter of fact, vabbian armor will cost only 25k to make - but the gems needed will cost much much more to make up for the discount, making it the second most expensive armor around Take a good look at all the elite armors available for your chosen profession, and pay attention to the "discount" ones for 50k. I think Ancient and the EotN armors are 50k gold only. And yes, Obsidian, Vabbian, Kurzick and Luxon elite armors require extra prestige materials that significantly increase the cost. |

There is no such thing as "cheapest"
Just keep in mind that if you have multiple characters, it might be worth while to purchase elite armors for different characters as they might be cheaper than the buying all of your armors for one character. For example, the Obsidian Armor is 120 ectos/obsidian shards for a Ritualist, but 105 for a Monk. Same goes for Luxon/Kurzick Armor. Some classes have "cheaper" required materials making it cheaper for some classes vs. others. The luxon necros for example uses a lot of monstrous fangs(35), which are currently selling for nearly 1K. Ultimately, reducing the cost will come down to what materials you have at hand and which are cheaper to get. Get the wiki page on prestige armor up and start digging. |

I beg to differ on this point. lol
Materials make a huge difference in the cost of materials. If you are buying all of your materials fresh, try to get armor sets that use the cheapest materials, or those that only use common crafting materials, such as Elite Druid and Elite Drakescale for the Ranger. Unfortunately, the only (elite) armors that exclusively use common materials are in the Prophecies campaign, to my knowledge, but at least it can get you started. |

I would say Ancient is pretty cheap. It's just 10k and the mats are usually on the cheaper side.

Ancient armor is rather cheap.
10k per piece plus materials and most professions have cheap materials for this set. |

if you have a monk the Labyrinthine armor is only 8k a piece, however; the materials are the problem here-vellum and feathers. That being said, feather farming is pretty easy and getting the vellum (which you can craft for cheaper-- 5 dust and 5 wood & 20g-- than buy) is...well....not too bad if you already have a stash of dust, wood and feathers (all VERY common drops/salvages).
Next is ancient as well as some of the eye armors---costing only 10k per piece. The only problem with the eye armors is it is necessary to have level 5 of that faction to make them (though if you complete a hero book you should have enough faction and a few more plat for the armor).

I thought my Norn armor (only elite I ever wanted) was easy/cheap to get. And I still love it. Getting Norn Rank to 5 is simple enough. I haven't even finished EotN. I stopped farming Norn Rep as soon as I hit 5 and got my armor but figure I'll go back and take it to 10 soon just so all the Norn shouts/skills will be more effective.

Be careful with the EOTN armors if you want them to count for the HoM. Some of them are actually individual pieces, rather than a whole set, so won't count as an elite armor for HoM purposes.
Example: Deldrimor, Ritualist: Opulent Rainment, Scale Leggings, Beaded Shoes, not an armor set. |

Deldrimor doesn't count as an armor set, but the rest in EotN do. I got the Norn armor because it was cheap and looked the best to me when I compared it to the others in EotN. Ancient is a very good idea also.

Elite Druid's is probably the cheapest, though. Only four pieces (no headpiece), and it's all just wood and leather, which are easy to farm and dirt cheap if you're lazy. |

Which sucks, BTW, since the Deldrimor looks really cool and at least one of my characters would love to have/dedicate a set. But I'm not gonna spend all that money if it doesn't count. I gotta save up for the ones that do. |

it's like saying Obsidian armor isn't the most expensive armor...
well Elementalist and Paragon don't have a specific headgear for most of their armor sets. these 2 prof can have the cheapest armors, and sets like Norn, Asuran, Ancient are pretty cheap. but if HoM doesn't require the head wear, then all professions got similar armor cost actually. |
